After an exciting two years of development, we're thrilled to be guests at the Irvine UCC, home to Wayward Theatre, and look forward to sharing this very important step in the journey of mounting MOURNING SUNSET with you!
For two weekends, audiences can get to know the Wright family and witness firsthand the trials and tribulations of a family walking through love, loss, lies, and, ultimately, redemption.
Long Beach has long been host to a multitude of community-based, grass-roots artists with a wide variety of expressions and disciplines. However... What's missing is an affordable, city-sponsored, multi-use space dedicated to individual artists and smaller-budget organizations who provide artistic services and productions for every demographic without discrimination or ability to pay.
Along with fellow organizations, OTW is joining the campaign to bring this issue to the city and express our urgency and insistence that a home be provided so we can afford to continue to bring programming to the community with a low budget.
This is a marathon project, not a spring, and we will see it through to the end!
Willy's Lil Virgin Queen was written and performed by OTW founder Terra Taylor Knudson and traced her coming-of-age story as she illustrated the many ways her life was shaped by the Bard. Using his words to give her a voice, she filtered the darker aspects of her life through the lens of Shakespeare’s words and connected his classic characters with real-life circumstances, providing an opportunity to see them in a contemporary and more accessible light.
Told through monologue, historical anecdotes and a little creative conjecture, this award-winning solo show made multiple stops in California,
Arizona, Colorado, and across the virtual "Pond", in critically-acclaimed appearances in the Edinburgh, Manchester, and Melbourne
virtual Fringe Festivals from 2016 through 2019. *Winner: 2017 Producer's Encore Award.
